Art and science are both endeavors that are fueled by human imagination and the desire to explore, interpret, and provide unique perspectives of the world. Science is an inherently creative pursuit, and is performed by humans that have many diverse and intersecting talents. We encourage and celebrate artistic efforts inspired by science, and have dedicated this page to showcasing the work produced by our group members

Dynamics of RNAs and their Scientists

This piece was produced by Megan Ken, Laura Ganser, and Henry Xu to capture the beauty of dynamic motion on scales orders of magnitude apart. Images were captured using long exposure photography of experimentally determined RNA movies and dancers. The RNAs shown are from HIV-1, TAR is on the top left and ESS3 on the bottom right. Megan and Laura study these RNAs, and they are the dancers shown in the top left and bottom right. This piece won the Photography category of the RNA Society's 2021 inaugural Arts and Music Competition.
